Creative Writing For The Mind, Body & Soul (4 Sessions): Join Author, Public Speaker, Peer Support Worker, Darcy Patrick for his Creative Writing For The Mind, Body & Soul Course! In This 4 week Course Darcy teaches you to use his journaling tools to help you with you over all Mental Health and Wellness! From using writing as therapeutic tool to learning how to write your own guided meditations, Darcy teaches you how to turn writing into your best friend!
A Mindful Approach to Burnout Management (1 Session): In this session, Dr. Levine will discuss burnout causes and symptoms, including caregiver burnout; burnout management utilizing mindfulness and mindful self compassion theory and practice; resources for continued practice.

Resolving Conflict (6 Sessions): In the course, we will explore what conflict is and how we can approach it. Conflict, such as disagreements and arguments, may occur with friends, family members, strangers, co-workers, an others in our lives. We will explore topics related to conflict, including but not limited to: conflict styles, managing emotions during a conflict, cultivating compassion for others, negotiating, and mediation strategies.
Sessions will include information on relevant topics and opportunities to engage in discussions, share insights, and participate in worksheets/exercises.
Sleep Hygiene (3 Sessions): This course is intended to support individuals with bettering their sleep hygiene. We will look at famous and successful people who have overcome the stigma of a mental illness to achieve amazing things- and you can too. Let’s learn from others’ and each others’ stories of hope.
Stocking Your Resilience Toolbox: Part 2 (4 Sessions): Funny stories. Good advice. From financial challenges to clashes with loved ones, obstacles come in all shapes and sizes. In this course, Josh Martin will share hilarious stories from his life and what those experiences taught him about navigating difficult times. Topics include self-care, motivation, creative problem solving and more. Enjoy a few laughs while learning practical skills to boost your resilience.

Employment Goal-Setting (1 Session): This course will review SMART goals through the lens of employment and provide a discussion platform to explore how to set and work towards your goals. 1) Objective 1: Provide tips and strategies to organize their job search/maintenance. 2) Objective 2: Provide a platform to think of and design goals specifically for employment.
Introduction to Assertiveness (2 Sessions): In this introductory course, we will explore an overview of Assertiveness. Assertiveness is a communication tool that can assist us in saying no, making requests, and establishing our boundaries in a respectful way. This course will also provide a brief overview of assertive-communication tools, worksheets/exercises, and group discussions to share insights around assertiveness.

CLUTTER, CLUTTER, CLUTTER: How to Manage It (6 Sessions): Everyone has “stuff” and if it’s not managed clutter can result. It can be difficult to function and enjoy one’s home when surrounded by clutter. In addition to causing safety risks, clutter can also impact one’s mental health and wellbeing. This course is intended for anyone living with clutter who wants to learn more about it and strategies to manage it. Being able to manage one’s home environment may reduce stress and anxiety symptoms as well as improve low mood.
Exploring our Behaviour Patterns (3 Sessions): In this course, we will reflect on our lifestyle patterns, and the coping behaviours we may be using. This course will provide a brief overview of what dependency is related to behaviours, and what it looks like for individuals who experience substance use and/or other dependencies such as eating, exercise, phone-use, etc.
Learning How to Say No (5 Sessions): This course will look at the different types of people pleasers, and explore ways in which to respectfully say no when negotiating our boundaries. Objective 1: To understand and recognize the different types of people pleasers. Objective 2: To learn how to say no, when needed, in a respectful manner when negotiating boundaries.
Self-Care 101 (4 Sessions): In this course, we will explore what self-care is. We discuss definitions of self-care, various ways we can incorporate self-care into our routines, and explore the benefits to developing our own self-care practices.
Stress Awareness: Part 2 (4 Sessions): This course is the second part to Stress Awareness that was offered last semester. Please note, you do not have to have attended the previous Stress Awareness to join this course. The learning objectives of this course include: 1) Summarizing what we learned about last semester; 2) Review the Biological, sociological, psychological and environmental causes of stress; 3) Explore our window of tolerance; 4) Form a deeper understanding of our vulnerability to stress and how this awareness can support us in our management of it; 5) Highlight our strengths and build our resiliency.

Disordered Eating & Body Image (3 Sessions): This virtual course is designed to promote a healthier relationship with our bodies through education on disordered eating, the history of fatphobia, an introduction to body image, and more!
Financial Planning Information Sessions (3 Sessions): Financial Planning Association of Canada (FPCA) will be providing free financial literacy sessions delivered by a Certified Financial Planner. Topics may include, but are not limited to: understanding money patterns and behaviours, budgeting, and debt and savings.
More Balancing Boundaries (9 Sessions): When we think of boundaries, we often think of physical boundaries, but mental boundaries are just as important. Course content (videos and text) will cover the Laws of Boundaries and hopefully assist participants to edit, create, and maintain their own mental boundaries to enhance their mental health.
RentSmart Training (1 Session): Through the RentSmart Training Course, you will learn: 1) How to plan for housing, communication and budgeting. 2) Identify what landlords look for in choosing a tenant. 3) Improve your chances for getting the housing you need. 4) Learn how to improve your rental references and how to improve your credit rating. 5) Resources in the community. 6) Your rights and responsibilities as a tenant.
Self-Compassion (7 Sessions): Self-compassion involves being warm and understanding towards ourselves when we feel inadequate, fail, or go through challenging experiences. In this course, we will explore Self-Compassionate exercises focused on being kinder to ourselves.

Balancing Boundaries (6 Sessions): In all our relationships, boundaries are essential in establishing,
maintaining, and helping us to grow within them.
In this course we are going to look at what boundaries
are/are not, how we construct them and deal with challenges,
and what boundaries we could have in our most
important relationships with family, friends, and coworkers.
Cultivating Gratitude (4 Sessions): This 4-week course is open to anyone interested in learning more about gratitude, the positive impact gratitude can have on one’s well-being, and how to start building a lasting gratitude practice. In addition to the structured material, each session will provide the space and opportunity for participants to share their own insights/experiences from their own gratitude practice.
Humble Tiger - Self-Compassion and Return to Work (3 Sessions): This course is based on the workbook "A Guide to using Self Compassion in Returning to Work after Mental Health Disability" by Dr. Joan Tucker.
Infertility and Mental Health (1 Session): This workshop details the connection between infertility and the impacts on overall wellbeing. By the end of the session, participants will have a better understanding of: 1) What is infertility. 2) The impact of infertility on mental health. 3) The impact of infertility within relationships. 4) Community resources.
Leadership Skills (7 Sessions): What does it take to be a leader? Learn about the qualities and skills to foster in yourself to lead people to common goals. Whether it is to organize a great birthday party, bring out the best in your sports team, or work on a project together, you can learn skills to improve your ability to lead!
Mental Health: Supporting Others (4 Sessions): Everyone has mental health, and many experience mental illness. People want to support one another, and this course can help people gain skills and confidence to support others in their lives struggling with mental illness. From taking care of oneself while supporting another, to identifying if further support is needed and what options for support exist, this course hopes to empower and better prepare participants to support others in their lives.

Understanding Anxiety (8 Sessions): In this course, we will work to understand anxiety and ways to manage it. Learning goals may include: 1) Understanding anxiety: What it is and when it becomes or has become an issue. 2) Implementing coping strategies and ways to ride out the waves. 3) Talking back to anxiety and identifying our triggers and when we are about to experience an attack, to stay ahead of it. 4) Facing our fears one step at a time. 5) Creating an individualized plan to identify each person’s personal areas of anxiety and how to overcome it. 6) Maintaining this plan moving forward and changing it as needed. 7) Supporting and applauding progress and gains during the process.

personal learning plan (PLP) can help you to map your
journey through the College. Setting targets or learning
goals can help you to get the right support from the
college. This will help you measure your own progress,

Learning objectives: 1) Explain the science of psychosis. 2) Understand the varying presentations of psychosis across the lifespan. 3) Demonstrate appropriate interventions and course of treatment. 4) Review barriers and solutions toward recovery from psychosis. 5) Analyze the effects of psychosis on individuals psychosocial well-being. 6) Integrate knowledge of psychosis with available community resource.
Recovery 101 (4 Sessions): Recovery is the process of re-defining and re-building your life with the experience of mental health challenges. This course is an opportunity to explore and discuss various approaches to recovery and wellness. Learning objectives can include, but are not limited to: 1) Define and explore recovery as an individual journey. 2) Consider where to start a recovery journey. 3) Explore helpful recovery strategies and approaches. 4) Discuss wellness and mental health activities; becoming experts in our self-care.

Barriers in Mental Health (5 Sessions): The course will provide a variety of information and incentive-based materials to provide insight and engaged information. Learn how to set up health barriers while living a healthier lifestyle.
Body Dysmorphia, Eating Disorders, & Nutrition (8 Sessions): This course will provide an overview on body dysmorphia, eating disorders, and nutrition.
Building Motivation (5 Sessions): In the course, we will explore what motivation is, and how we can increase our motivation to do the things that are important to us. We will explore how our goals, expectations and values influence our levels of motivation. We will discuss strategies that can help us feel more motivated, and brainstorm on how we can address challenges, like procrastination, that may arise.
Codependent 101 (7 Sessions): What is Codependency and do I have it? Codependency is something that can be unlearned. This course will dive into Codependent traits and how we can put more focus on ourselves to increase our Self-worth, trust ourselves and the decisions we make, and lower our need for approval from others.

Winter 2023
Change Your Mindset (8 Sessions): The course will look at both fixed and growth mindsets and how to move from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset. This will be achieved through case studies and group discussion, as well as related materials presented during the course.
Chartered Professional Accountants Workshops (5 Sessions): Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Canada’s 60-minute adult sessions target the diverse financial literacy needs of Canadians, by aiding individuals to get the information they need to make smart financial decisions. 30 Ways to Shine (6 Sessions): 30 Ways to Shine is a 6 sessions work-based skill development program designed for job seekers and new employees with the purpose of increasing job retention by promoting effective workplace habits, attitudes and choices. The ultimate goal of this program is not merely to encourage job maintenance, but to foster in the job seeker a feeling of personal power, desire and responsibility leading towards job satisfaction and ongoing career development.
Assertiveness (4 Sessions): Assertiveness is a key skill that can help you to better manage yourself, people and situations. It can help you to influence others in order to gain acceptance, agreement or behavior change. It is the ability to express your opinions positively and with confidence.
Balancing Boundaries Plus (12 Sessions): When we think of boundaries we often think of physical boundaries, but mental boundaries are just as important. When something difficult happens in your life, people will often tell you to “just let go and move on”. Is it really that simple? And HOW do I learn to let go? If you’ve ever had these thoughts or wished you could move past difficulties in your life, then this course is for you! In The Big Let Go you will learn the power of: Radical acceptance, Changing your perspective, Forgiveness, Setting boundaries, Building faith in yourself. You will learn to apply all of Darcy’s tools in your everyday life, turning your growth into a truly personal journey.

Habits (10 Sessions): This course is about our habits, specifically ones we want to create. The author of the book “Better than Before: Mastering the Habits of our everyday Lives” is Gretchen Rubin. She says that every day 40% of our lives are taken up by habits. If this is the case, then it would be very wise to make sure these are habits that will reflect our values and what we want out of life. Let’s support one another and make our habits the “invisible architecture of everyday life”, as Rubin says.

The Big Let Go (4 Sessions): Darcy will be presenting his new 4 part course “The Big Let Go” letting go of control is taking control! When something difficult happens in your life, people will often tell you to “just let go and move on”. Is it really that simple? And HOW do I learn to let go? If you’ve ever had these thoughts or wished you could move past difficulties in your life, then this course is for you! In The Big Let Go you will learn the power of: Radical acceptance, Changing your perspective, Forgiveness, Setting boundaries, Building faith in yourself. You will learn to apply all of Darcy’s tools in your everyday life, turning your growth into a truly personal journey.
Creating & Updating Your Personal Learning Plan (1 Session): In this session you will explore your interests, hopes and goals and develop your personal learning plan. A personal learning plan (PLP) can help you to map your journey through the College. Setting targets or learning goals can help you to get the right support from the college. This will help you measure your own progress, record your achievements and decide what your next steps will be.
Harm Reduction and Relapse Prevention (2 Sessions): The purpose of this course is: 1) To understand harm reduction at the individual and community level. 2) To identify harm reduction practices and examples. 3) To analyze the relevance of harm reduction principles as it relates to individuals with substance use disorders. 4) To define Relapse and Recovery. 5) To discuss feelings associated with the journey to recovery (e.g. guilt, shame). 6) To identify benefits of a Relapse Prevention plan.

She says that every day 40% of our lives are taken up by habits. If this is the case, then it would be very wise to make sure these are habits that will reflect our values and what we want out of life. Let’s support one another and make our habits the “invisible architecture of everyday life”, as Rubin says.

A Fitter You (10 Sessions): With COVID many people have been challenged to take care of not only their mental health, but have also been challenged to take care of their physical health. As we come out of COVID it's time to get ourselves moving again.
This course will explore the how, when, what, where, and why of exercising your way to a Fitter You! Everyone can improve their physical well-being, which also improves your mental health at the same time. Learn the "recipe" to success and embrace a healthier you.

Psychosis Explained (7 Sessions): This course offers a holistic learning approach to develop an understanding of psychosis through a biopsychosocial model. Learning objectives include: 1) Explain the science of psychosis. 2) Understand the varying presentations of psychosis across the lifespan. 3) Demonstrate appropriate interventions and course of treatment. 4) Review barriers and solutions toward recovery from psychosis. 5) Analyze the effects of psychosis on individuals psychosocial well-being. 6) Integrate knowledge of psychosis with available community resources.

It often has a wide range of effects on physical and mental well-being. This course aims to improve your ability to actively manage your pain and improve your sense of control through the following learning objectives: 1) Learn about the nature of chronic pain and how it affects you. 2) Discuss non-pharmacological approaches to cope with pain. 3) Learn strategies to engage with daily activities and exercise without aggravating pain. 4) Learn how to communicate and set healthy boundaries.

Activity and Mental Health (2 Sessions): Engaging in meaningful activities that align with one’s interests and values can support well-being. This course aims to explore the ideas surrounding engagement in meaningful activities, time use, and balance in one’s daily life. Sessions will include information on relevant topics, an opportunity to discuss and share insights, and participate in exercises.
Disclosing to Others (2 Sessions): Disclosing mental illness to others can be a potentially challenging conversation. This course aims to support individuals in having these conversations with others, whether that be in the workplace or within personal relationships. Much of this course will look at how to approach and navigate disclosure conversations including who and when to contact, discussion of accommodations, and overcoming stigma.

Exploring Loneliness (6 Sessions): This course aims to explore the ideas surrounding loneliness including stigma, who it affects, challenges and strategies. Each session will provide information on relevant topics, an opportunity to discuss and share insights, as well as participate in relevant exercises and support feelings of belonging.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for Youth (8 Sessions): Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) for Youth teaches participants how to apply mindfulness in gaining mastery over stress management. It is designed for people under the age of 25.
Financial Literacy 101 (8 Sessions): Financial Wellness is an integral part of overall wellness, In this course where you will take the first steps in basic financial literacy and develop an understanding of your relationship with money. This course is open to all that are interested in improving their financial wellness by learning money and borrowing basics, exploring their feelings about money, learning how to communicate around it in a healthy way, identifying financial goals, using budgets to work toward them and more!
Self-Care for Caregivers (4 Sessions): This course is designed for those who are caring for someone on a journey of recovery. The focus of this course is to learn how to shift attention toward taking care of oneself, which in turn allows us to better support others. The course will include opportunities to share insights and discuss, information will be presented, and each class will contain practical exercises to provide opportunities to explore self-care strategies.
PeerZone: Toolkit Topics (7 Sessions): PeerZone is a 7-week series of workshops providing resources and strategies to benefit others experiencing mental health distress. Facilitated by certified PeerZone educators with their own lived-experience, each group uses discussion and activities to explore mental health and find strategies to help manage day to day life. - Cultivating Acceptance: Acceptance is an attitude that enables people to be at peace with themselves, their past and the circumstances of their lives. It’s important to support people to accept what has happened in the past but not to get trapped in accepting pessimistic predictions for the future.
- Peer Support: Peer support can be a very effective way of increasing people’s hope, motivation and self-belief.
- Finding Hope: Hope is essential for recovery and wellbeing. It gives people energy, motivation, and something to look for-ward to. A global loss of hope is serious, and in the long term, associated with poor life and health outcomes. For these reasons, finding and re-finding hope in even the darkest of times is important.
